Rehann’s teaching style bridges the practical, the theoretical and the philosophical, covering technique and historical context while guiding students to integrate creativity into daily life. For him, watercolor is not merely a medium but a practice, a meditation on seeing closely, creating wholeheartedly, thus nudging the almost unpredictable – to become beautiful.

All workshops follow a structured, immersive format. We will be painting both in the studio and en plein air.

Over the week, you’ll complete a painting most days. You’ll also understand why it works, where it comes from and how it connects to the larger story of art.

Workshops combine demonstration, guided practice and discussion, so you walk away with new skills and a renewed sense of art appreciation and artistic purpose.

Each day has a three hour workshop in the morning – and we aim to finish a painting in every session.

In the afternoon, we have a mixture of excursions to take you out to see some of the surrounding landscapes and places of beauty, and free time for relaxation or continuing to paint at your own pace.

For Melbourne-based artist Rehann, hiking, snorkeling and kayaking are as much a part of the creative process as clicking reference photographs and painting plein air. The sheer joy he finds in working with the mercurial nature of watercolour & inks, along with a deep appreciation of nature’s will and sublime beauty, has shaped a personal belief that all truly transformative moments in art and in life, are always a little bit beyond one’s control. ‘Expecting this inherent uncertainty and in fact welcoming it, has made all the difference’ he explains.

Trained in Design at Swinburne University, Rehann spent over a decade working and teaching in the field of user experience (UX) and product design, helping teams create meaningful digital experiences. But over the years, a persistent longing to return to the tactile, contemplative world of watercolour painting grew too strong to ignore.

He now paints full-time and shares his love for watercolor through classes, workshops and retreats.
