Yoga Mindfulness and Meditation

Yoga Course

Yoga has been practiced for more than 5000 years and is constantly evolving. In the practice of yoga today, we move in a way that is rooted in anatomy and Yogic science, meeting us where we are. The very essence of yoga lies in attaining mental peace, improved concentration and living in harmony with others and ourselves.

Yoga gives us a chance to slow down, pay attention, savour where we are now and the steps we have taken to get here.  Escape the stressors of life.  We learn the value of time for ourselves. There are many benefits, such as improving physical strength and mobility, cultivating mindfulness, managing stress and finding peace of mind and happiness.

The Retreat

Gives you an opportunity to focus on your Yoga practice, on yourself and enjoy a well-earned holiday. The retreat provides an escape from everyday life, allowing you to return refreshed, relaxed and renewed. With twice-daily practices the outcomes of your practice are amplified. You can attend as many or as little sessions as you wish.  There will also be plenty of free time to relax, absorb and reflect.

Disconnecting is an important aspect of retreating. How far do you want to take it? No media, social media, phone? You might like to set an intention for your retreat, a Sankalpa. A Sankalpa is a powerful resolve when made on a Yoga retreat.

Our modern fast paced lifestyles can lead to physical and emotional stress affecting our health, posture, breathing and contributing to tension, aches and pains. The number one remedy for stress is relaxation and Yoga can play an important role in reducing stress.

I hope you come and join us. “Yoga is the journey of the self, to the self, through the self “ The Bhagavad Gita

Workshops

During the week I would like to offer workshops that will be a combination of discussion and practical exercises.

  • Practice for your body Type
  • Inversions
  • Life Balance

The Yoga Classes

During this week of yoga Carol will share some of her favourite yoga techniques and skills to empower you to be the happiest, healthiest version of yourself. Recharging your mind and body, leaving you feeling refreshed and with a sense of inner calm. All classes are suitable for every body and levels of experience.

We will explore the 8 Limbs of Yoga, which are practical steps forming the foundation of the path of Yoga. These include:

  • Postures/ Asana to release tension and bring the body into balance
  • Breathing/Pranayama to affect a positive shift in the mind.
  • Turning our attention inwards/Pratyahara, concentration/Dharana, Dhyana/meditation. These are deeper aspects of Yoga.

Discovering deeper aspects of the practice of Yoga provides suggestions for living a better life and enhancing our way of being.

Yoga Mindfulness and Meditation

Morning Vinyasa

This class will strengthen and help to create more freedom of movement in your body. Working with your unique body to find your alignment, learning to search for steadiness and ease in each pose, awakening and preparing you for your day ahead.

Each class will have a strong emphasis “on the breath”, helping you to be more present in your breath and your body.  Going deeper into understanding Yoga and how your body responds.  Learning to honour your whole being, its strengths and weaknesses. Most important is that you have fun and enjoy your practice. Finally, Carol will leave you with a take home practice that you can integrate into your life.

Afternoon Yin and Restorative Yoga

Yin: a simple peaceful practice of long held floor poses. These poses apply a moderate stress to the connective tissue, ligaments, tendons and fascia with the aim of increasing the health and mobility of our joints, tissues and organs. This practice also passively stimulates the meridian lines. We immerse ourselves in the mystery of silence, contemplation, discomfort, ease, grace and everything in between.

Restorative: blissful, gentle, rejuvenating and restful practice to soothe and nourish you on many levels. This practice involves coming into mild variations of classic poses with a focus less on stretching and more on releasing tension. The body is completely supported by blankets, bolsters etc allowing you to stay for longer periods of time. This class is an invitation to just breathe, relax and enjoy the wonders of the present moment. We will prepare the body to relax and relax deeply.
