Art in the Garden

Kerry has been to Daku to paint several times, and sees it as a very special place to visit, feeding her own love of colour. “Once there you will start to take in the beautiful tropical colours of the gardens and beauty in the people, the colour in the buildings, clothing and even the washing hanging on the lines. The beaches, villages and town will all be visited and we cannot help but be influenced by this in our art.”

The goal for the week will be to produce a series of small watercolour paintings that will be inspired by the surrounds. She will show you how to turn your paintings into your very own unique “Handpainted Visual Watercolour Holiday Journal” which can be kept and treasured forever.

The paintings will be a variety of subjects which she will demonstrate step by step, teaching and sharing tips and techniques.

Each morning is spent in a three hour workshop painting and creating in the comfort of Daku Resort’s Yoga Shala with its breathtaking views over Savusavu Bay.
Each afternoon you will be taken to various parts of the island to see the Fijian
countryside, beach, villages, people, waterfall and a tapa demonstration – with some time for just relaxing. While discovering Savusavu you will be taking it all in ready for our painting session the next morning.

Kerrie Hardy

Meet Kerry Hardy.

Kerry Hardy has a strong background in design and colour, encompassing a wide range of applications including corporate branding and vibrant pottery .

In her twenties she commenced a Certificate of Studio Ceramics and then continued with this passion for 35 years having a series of pottery exhibitions displaying work characterised by her brightly coloured underglazes. 26 years of her corporate life was spent working in design, curating the “look” for Bank of Queensland’s corporate wardrobe and dressing up to 2000 employees across Australia, coordinating design, manufacturer and delivery.

Her transition to painting has been a later development, and she has embraced it with passion, discovering her own strengths and abilities. More than that, she has translated her own delight into a vivacious art group where she teaches with contagious enthusiasm. Her students produce a painting in each class. Kerry holds 3 solo exhibitions in her garden each year.
