Donna Giannotis leads a week of gentle, deeply nurturing yoga laced with the joy she brings to her classes.

Yoga literally means union. It refers to the state of connection between mind and body. When you bring that connection into your daily life, you are aware of your body throughout the day, and you start to understand and honour it in entirely new ways.

During this week in Fiji, you will learn how to re connect with your body in a way that is gentle, nurturing and strengthening. The morning classes become a foundation from which you are able to practise taking this connection into the rest of your day. The afternoon practice will be an opportunity to support you to deepen your connection with yourself.

In the first 5-10 minutes of the session, we practice body awareness, relaxation and meditation techniques in a comfortable lying down position. The physical stillness allows us to feel where we are at, establishing a gradual re-connection with ourselves and the natural rhythm of our breath and body. This part is the foundation of the practice: an opportunity for the body to let go completely, relax and renew. It builds a platform from which we can assess our quality of being, and then move on. From this place of deeper connection with ourselves we establish harmony and then go into a gentle general physical workout.

The classes will include body connection, strength and flexibility, gentle breath, meditation, learning about the energetics of the body and how to live from a place of connection.

This connection directs you to fully feeling, understanding and protecting your body as you move and exercise, and is a safe and effective way to build strength and fitness. The practice can support your body to do every day activities without straining and hardening, i.e. with more physical efficiency. It is also a joyful and playful experience of sensing and exploring your body.

Daily program

Mornings will include creative, flowing asana sequences, sun salutations, and invigorating pranayama (breathing) practices, with time for deep relaxation.

Afternoons will be a gentle, individually-tailored session to restore your body.

You will also receive a free half hour  massage.

Donna Gianniotis

Donna has been teaching yoga full-time for over 11 years in Sydney and at holiday destinations such as Hayman and Lord Howe Islands. Having first discovered yoga nearly 15 years ago on a trip to India she then went on and completed her Yoga Teacher Training at Nature Care College.

After graduating at Nature Care College in 2003, she continued her ongoing studies for several years with Michael de Manincor at Yoga Sanga (now known as the Yoga Institute). Having experienced the benefits of energy healing during her own breast cancer journey in 2008, she has spent the last 6 years studying the energetics of the body and now incorporates this into her yoga teaching.

Donna teaches a gentle style of yoga that is accessible to all. The focus is on connecting to the body via “the feeling sense.” The practice is deeply nurturing and works by releasing nervous tension, anxiousness and hardness in the body so you begin to experience true harmony. Her yoga teaching is inspired by the work of Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine.

She has a broad range of teaching experience having taught in yoga studios, on teaching training courses, in corporate companies, private yoga/yoga therapy, schools, workshops and retreats.

Donna is also an Esoteric Healing practitioner and treats many conditions such as back pain, insomnia, anxiousness and emotional stress at her clinics in Sydney. For more information visit www.yogaandhealing.com.au
