Yoga in Fiji Daku resort

Course description

Dynamic flowing Hatha and Dreamwork: Clearing the Mind & Opening the Heart

Meera’s yoga path has encompassed several styles of yoga alongside a deep exploration of yoga philosophy. When yoga asks us to connect with the self, we need to understand what we mean by ‘self’. Meera will be using the time in this retreat to explore our understanding of the concept and how to  make changes, and will also be conducting a couple of sessions on Dreamwork.

Strengthening, stabilizing Asana energise us and reconnect us with the body, nature and the earth.  Meditation, Pranayama and working with the Chakras help to awaken the subtle flow of Prana and to clear old patterns.

Through a combination of Yoga Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation her retreat will give students the opportunity to experience balance, harmony, and mental stillness and create lasting connection with that true Self.

Meera teaches a flowing dynamic Asana practice with influences from her Iyengar, Ashtanga and Yoga Synergy training.  A typical practice might include  a flowing sequence of standing poses, forward bends, twists, back bending and perhaps some inverted poses, followed by Pranayama, sitting and relaxation. Attention is given to working safely for areas prone to injury such as back, neck and knees. There is a strong focus on conscious breathing throughout, so that it is like a moving meditation with the goal of connecting body, mind and breath, and feeling energised, clear and relaxed as a result.

Working with our dreams

Dreams are a potent way of learning about our inner life and fostering creativity.
CG Jung said “a dream unexplored is like a letter left unopened”, the letter being from our deepest self, calling to us to be recognized and explored.
Dreamwork is a way of decoding the symbolic, archetypal and creative forms within the dream, which can be revelatory and transformative.
Your dream imagery comes from your psyche, giving you access to deeper feelings and the super-intelligence that lies beneath your conscious mind.
A powerful way to access the treasures a dream has to offer is to revisit the dream while awake.  Meera uses dreamwork techniques, guided meditation and creative processes to help you unlock your dream, empowering and re-awakening your imagination, so that you begin to access your mystery, uniqueness and true purpose.
Bring a journal, pen, basic art materials and a sense of adventure and curiosity!

Meera-Anderson-Yoga-in-Fiji-Daku-Resort-2

Meera’s yoga path has encompassed several styles of yoga alongside a deep exploration of yoga philosophy.  Through her training as a Gestalt psychotherapist she brings creative dreamwork to enhance the retreat experience of self enquiry.

“When we go on Retreat we take time out from our ordinary routines and obligations, to nourish and recharge, not just our batteries but our Inner Being. We open up a space to come into connection with a deeper part of ourselves and this gives us access to intuition, wisdom and innate joy.  Dreamwork is a playful, creative process that allows us to communicate with our inner guide or guru.

Meera teaches a flowing dynamic Asana practice with influences from her Iyengar, Ashtanga and Yoga Synergy training.  The practice will be suitable for all levels from beginner to more experienced, with attention to working safely with injuries or special conditions.

Iyengar-Daku-Resort-Fiji-3

Meera’s Yoga journey has taken her to India to deepen her Yoga studies, Buddhism and Meditation. She has trained with Yoga master BKS Iyengar as well as respected Australian teachers Simon Borg Olivier & Bianca Machliss, Michael de Manincor and Dena Kingsberg. She makes grateful recognition of the influence, support and guidance of past teachers and friends:  Dianne Currie, Zander Remete, Eileen Hall, Iyengar family (RMIYI, Pune), Nikki Fulford, Angelika Knorzer, Mischa Telford

In recent years Meera’s practice has been under the guidance and support of Clive Sheridan whose focus is on the more subtle aspects of Yoga, Pranayama, and self enquiry.  Clive encourages us to look deeply into matters of the heart and mind, and with the help of grace, dare to let go of the veils that prevent us from realising our true nature.  Meera became qualified as a Gestalt Psychotherapist in 2010; and is currently completing a Bachelor of Counselling at ACAP.

Mid week there will be a dream workshop, with follow up and debrief sessions as needed.
