Iyengar: a deepening practice With Marina Jung October 26 – November 2

Marina Jung teaches yoga through the raw traditions taught to her by the Iyengar family.  The Iyengars are known for their attention to detail, student specific adjustments and finite sequencing of asanas for holistic balance.  Marina’s vast knowledge of the human body and its potential are her greatest assets. Marina sees her students’ potentials and she urges them to penetrate to that level in a mature and safe approach.  Ambitions are put aside in Marina’s class. Students learn how to “get into their body and out of their head”.

Students go further and learn deeper through Marina’s straightforward instructions, her mature and clear demonstrations of postures, and her strongly individual adjustments.

It is a rare skill for a yoga teacher to balance the amount of time devoted to detailed teachings of asana technique with time for quiet reflection in which students can penetrate deeper within their own practice.  Marina has this skill.  Students of Marina can expect to be challenged physically, mentally and spiritually.  They will be invited to listen with keen awareness and take this learnt knowledge into their practices. Marina teaches that yoga is not theoretical, it is a practice. Therefore- students learn to listen, concentrate, apply, hold, repeat, listen, concentrate, apply… Marina teaches that yoga is not about doing poses- it is about becoming the poses and working out how to get there using intelligence, surrender and humility.
