Madi Simmons was the first yoga teacher to come to Daku Resort, and we are forever grateful to her for planting the seed of our yoga programme. It has blossomed and flowered into a wonderful schedule of regular retreats with teachers from many yoga disciplines and countries.
In October 2014 she is running a 4 week teacher training course in Fiji at Daku Resort – a splendid homecoming for her and an exciting renewal of the link for us at Daku.
It offers a Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certification : Level : 200 Hours, and is internationally accredited with Yoga Alliance.
Madi’s school of Paradise Yoga is a small Yoga School dedicated to Daily Yoga, Yoga Teacher Trainings and Yoga Retreats.
The course is unique: family friendly – bring the whole family to Fiji for a month that will reshape your lives – thorough curriculum, world class teachers…and always seriously fun. The program will run from Monday – Fridays, leaving weekends free for students to apply the week’s lessons to some self-directed home practice, and to explore the local area, go snorkeling, swim in the pool or just relax.
All of the teachers in her Paradise Yoga centre base their practice on the belief that yoga can be modified to suit every individual, starting with the student’s personal level of understanding of mind, body and spirit. The Yoga Asana has a strong focus on safety and alignment and students range in age from two to eighty two. paradiseyoga.net

A big emphasis is placed on practical teaching, so our teaching students graduate as confident, articulate and capable teachers, ready to share their love of yoga with the wider community.
Classes are small and there is plenty of personal assistance where needed and encouragement to explore yoga to its fullest.
The style draws from the authentic classical schools of yoga, mainly Sivananda and Krishnamarcharya, and is relevant to our contemporary lifestyle. Graduating students have been sought out to teach in community groups – even before graduating – as this style of yoga has been noted for its focus on safety and alignment, and it’s relevance and adaptability to teach students of all ages and in all states of health. The aim is to help every student feel well and to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle - physically, mentally & spiritually.
Anatomy and Physiology components The YTT Program includes an online component of 20 hours with leading Anatomy and Physiology teachers, Leslie Kaminoff & Amy Matthews of the Breathing Project NYC. Leslie & Amy take anatomy out of the textbook and make it an experiential subject, which greatly assists students to “find their voice” when giving clear instructions on coming into and out of yoga asana in a safe manner. yogaanatomy.net
Our Philosophy curriculum has been written by world leading scholar of the Yoga Tradition and translations of yogic scriptures, Georg Feuerstein. Georg, like the Indian Rishis’ of the past and present, reveals through his texts that yoga is not something we do, but something we become. “Yoga without the yogi’s all comprehending consciousness is like the sun without heat and light.” His manuals should become a set standard for all authentic Yoga Teacher Training programs!
